I love baking on Sunday morning. Here are some photos of just a few of the tasty treats that come from my kitchen.
I used an enriched dough that I made from scratch. Brioche or Danish is good. Layered with Nutella, egg washed and sprinkled with Demerara sugar, cinnamon and sliced almonds. I think if I made it again, I would layer it with julienne of pears and marzipan, plus some chocolate. Was it good? No idea. Sent it to work for hubby to put in the break room. It was gone before ten so I guess so.
Just took this wonderful drunk pear and frangipane tarts from the oven. Mmmm…
After a hard day in the yard… a quick 15 minute supper! Pork with apples and blackberries, wilted spinach with Gorgonzola, glazed carrots and baby new potatoes. Just for hubby, and I had salmon.
A gift from an associate. Brought back some really nice memories of Easter back home and the effort put into such occasions. Beautiful. Thank you Thomas Williams and your amazing girls!
I have some new neighbors moving in, their folks just drove across country to help with the unpacking. I know technically one simply does not offer two pies at the same sitting…. Nonetheless I delivered a pot pie, apple pie and litre of Chardonnay to use the process!
Pear, pecan and Gorgonzola salad with a fig and onion dressing…..and to cleanse your palette….a side of strawberries.
We had pork chops last night that I made with some cranberry relish, added blackberries and raspberry balsamic and reduced it to a glaze…pushed it through the sieve to make a smooth sauce…I had the tiniest piece of pork but the glaze over my veggies…mmm mm good! If you need something healthy and fast this is it!
Starting the new year off nicely. I am throwing some supper in the oven early on in the day, while we clean and declutter the house. Not only do these ribs taste amazingly good, the whole house smells like a french bistro all day!
Almond and Apricot Cake. Perfect with tea or coffee!
